Further through the lower Bigo bog hikers will then be welcomed to the Alpine zone and then to upper Bigo bog after which they will then enjoy the walks on the tussocks to Bujjuku camp. From here they will have walk to Kitandara camp near the lower lake Kitandara and enjoy a night before they summit Weismann Peak. After the summit hike down to Guyeoman Peak completing the entire Central circuit trail and enjoying the incredible views of Weisman Peak which will also allow you see the Congo homesteads. Hikers are promised with a spectacular scenery of the rugged terrains as well as different flora and fauna creating an unforgettable experience.

Detailed 6 Days Rwenzori Weismann’s Peak Hike Challenge Itinerary
Day 1; Nyakalegeji (1650m) to Nyabita camp (2650m)
Your 6 days adventure to Weismann’s Peak commences from Nyakalengeji where you are briefly introduced and welcomed to the Rwenzori mountains. Here you will also get to know the team that will accompany you on your Rwenzori expedition. You will then start out and head to your first destination which is Nyabibata camp. The distance is 7km and approximately 4-6hours all depending on your walking pace. You will walk past cliffs, crossing bridges and bluffs and the Mahoma river before ascending to Nyabitaba camp. Along the was you will spot several plant and wildlife species like the playful monkeys ,the three horned chameleon, the Rwenzori turaco all who survive in the dense of the Rwenzori mountains . After the steep ascent you will head to the rock shelter that welcomes you to Nyabitaba camp which is located above the river Mubuku in the lush forests. Dinner and overnight at Nyabitaba hut.
Day 2: Nyabitaba (2650m0 to John Matte camp (3505m)
From Nyabitaba, your 6 days Weismann’s Peak Hike of the Rwenzori mountains continues to John matte camp that is located along the shores of river Bujjuku in the middle of several portal peaks. Set out after a hearty breakfast through the lush trees after crossing the Kurt Shafer bridge a point where the rivers Bujjuku and Mubukku rivers meet you will be welcomed to the bamboo zone another amazing area of totally unique vegetation cover. Finally after crossing some small area of bog that is along river Bujjuku you will be ushered into John matte camp by the mossy forest. Dinner and overnight at John matte where you have high chances of viewing the glacier on Magherita Camp on Mount Stanely.
Day 3: Johnmatte camp (3505m) to Bujjuku camp(3900m)
On your day 3 of the 6 Days Weismann’s Peak Hike in the Rwenzori mountains, you will enjoy a short walk of about 4 to 5hours or less depending on your walking pace. Todays journey is quit a unique one with stunning views of unique plants like the lobelia, the groundsels and the the boggy terrains creating a fulfilled walk of jumping from one tussock to the other. After crossing the thrilling board walk which is located in the home of the giant lobelias, you will then hike to the upper Bigo bog a unique atmosphere with amazing groundsels and other plant species crossing from streams and walking through the tedious bog. You will then check in at Bujjuku
camp where you will be spending a night within the center of Rwenzori mountains surrounded by the major peaks of Mount Speke, Mount Stanley and Mount Baker.
Day 4: Bujjuku (3900m) to Kitandara (4027m)
Bid farewell to Bujjuku and set out for you adventure on your 4th day in the Rwenzori mountains on your 6 Days Rwenzori Weismann’s Peak Hike. Hiking through the boggy area you will ascend a steep hike with the help of ladders at some point continue through the mossy rocks to the Scott Elliot pass after which you will walk through the rocks in the Alpine zone a unique zone with scarce trees you will notice the oxygen levels reducing though not drastically but lowering of the temperatures as you walk. After walking through the everlasting flowers you will spot the beauty of the two twin lakes of Kitandara before continuing to the camp for a night.
Day 5: Kitandara (4027m0 to Weisman peak (4620m) to Guyeoman camp(3505)
You goal of hiking Weismann’s Peak is achieved on day 5 of the 6 Days Weismann’s Peak Hike in the Rwenzori mountains. You will set out with a steep hike from Kitandara, hike to the fresh field pass (4280m) here the landscape is exposed with scattered groundsels on a rocky area. This is also the launch pad for hikers summiting mount Baker. Take on the route to Mount Luigi di savor which hosts Weismann’s Peak. After reaching the peak enjoy the views of the Congo homesteads and then slope down to Guyeoman camp for dinner and overnight . You will walk past the Bujongolo rock shelter until you reach the camp.
Day 6: Guyeoman (3505m) to Nyabitaba (2560m) to Nyakalegeji
Your final day starts with a delicious breakfast, and start the descend through the varying terrains of the the descent. You will hike through cliffs like the Kichuchu cliff to the bamboo zones before reaching Nyabitaba hut for a lunch. After the kunch you will hike further down to through the forested zone till you check out through Mihunga gate if the Rwenzori mountains.
